  these fims like "cidade de deus", "carandiru"and other were made to brazilian public ,but some of these movies finish abroad,where,like you said,show a negative point of view about brazil.many foreigner dont understand that these movies are to brazilians audiences ,and some of these foreingners think that brazil is only poverty and violence after watch a movie like that.
