how bad is bad?

• Taken from To Kill a Mockingbird(a description of how the witnesses view blacks): "all Negroes lie, all Negroes are basically immoral beings, all Negroes are not to be trusted...an assumption one associates with minds of their calibre."
  
  The above quotation is from the speech to the jury, given by the lawyer, Atticus Finch in defence of his (innocent) client, Tom Robinson, a so-called "Negro", in the largely racist Amaerican South.
  
  Bearing in mind that the term "racist" applies to any discrimination against a race by another race, how far would you say Atticus's description of the witnesses' attitudes applies to South Africa today?....i challege you
