Actually, credit references do cross boarders
-
We're moving from Washington to British Columbia. Our mortgage broker in BC, knowing we're from the US, specifically asked for our social security numbers in order to check our credit scores. With no credit record in Canada it would be very difficult to get a mortgage, but they're able to access foreign records to evaluate their risk level. If you've got a bad record abroad expect it to follow you to Canada.
