Lots of choice and variety

Your question is a little difficult to answer as 'outside of London' is a little non-specific!! One thing you will find in the UK is that there are massive regional and local differences in terms of cost. For instance, if you are commuting into London, you will probably want to live close to a train station. You will find this a lot more expensive within walking distance than 20 mins by car. If you are going to be working outside of the centre and living close to work (always a good ideas as travelling by car in the South East of the UK is a nightmare, then costs and availability will really depend on the exact location. A good thing to do is ask your future employer for help. You will usually receive good indications of local options and costs from them and if there is an HR department, they may help you find a place to live - either temporarily to help you get settled or something more permanent.
