Canada vs USA

  • I am Irish and have lived in the USA for 20 years. I have visited Canada a couple of time, so am not an expert on their culture. I have also lived in the UK for 2 years.
I have heard said that Canada is somewhat of a combination of the UK ( Weather, social welfare system, good manners to name a few) and the USA ( open mindedness ( at least the blue states!), land of opportunity etc.
For example, I thought that the TV shows in Canada were more similar in style to the UK. People in general seemed well educated compared to the average USA citizen. Of course another major difference is the attitudes towards guns and violence...ie, less of it in Canada. Have you seen the Michael Moore documentary, Bowling for Columbine...it focuses on that difference a lot.

Again, these are just a few of the differneces. Both countires are great in their own way.
