switzerland employment

  • Hi there, im from Vancouver and have done a little research into this myself. As far as im concerned these are the steps (not as easy as it sounds, but with a little determination you can probably find something);

    First you need to find an employer in Switzerland willing to employ you. They have to apply for an L-Permit for you, which gives you the right to abode and employment. The L-Permit also entitles the holder to live in a specific canton and work for a specific employer. L-Permit also provides discounts on public transport and lift passes in mountain resorts.

    Now, the reason it's more tricky to be employed in Switzerland is because they have a very low unemplyoyment rate considering the size of the country. They have to proove to their government that they need to employ a foreign over their own citizen for what ever reason.

    These are the rules, always seem very strict and impossible at first but if you do some research, get some contacts, and are willing then you will find something. I'm currently employed in Scotland and im trying to get into Switzerland for this winter season.

    Hope that helped! Good luck!
