EEA Family Permit and Spouse Visa

• I am a non-EU, Permanent German Resident married (2 years) to a British Spouse living with me here in Germany. I have have EEA Family Permit(on her sponsorship). Can I apply for British citizenship after 2 or 3 years in the UK based on my marriage and the Residence Card? Must I change my Visa category to Spouse Visa (Immigration rule)before this can be eff ective. I am at a conspicuous disadvantage in my career paths due to my nationality: (German nationality is second to British citizenship in my opinion). Therefore, kindly hint my the easiest and time-effective legal path to attaining Brirish citizenship.
