What are my chances of getting a job?
Taiwan may be recognised as one of the 'Four Asian Tigers' alongside Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore due to its 20th century period of industrialization prowess. Yet, its diverse economy which has attracted foreign investors, now means that employers in Taiwan could require high-level qualified workers in areas such as finance, engineering and sales.

Work permits and resident visas in Taiwan
Who needs one?
Your employer in Taiwan will be required to submit an application and the required documents for a work permit to the appropriate authority. Work permits are valid for a period of up to 3 years and can be extended a further 4 months prior to the expiration date.

Resident visas and Alien Resident Certificates explained
If, prior to your arrival you have received permission to work in Taiwan, you will need to apply for a resident visa and resident certificate. These can be applied for at an overseas consulate or representative office of the Republic of China.

Social security
Unemployment and pension benefits
Unfortunately, apart from health benefits, the majority of foreign nationals do not qualify for social insurance payments in Taiwan. This is due to Taiwan not having an affluent security system and a population that depends on welfare for family support.
