Run, you fools!

  • The migrants are more than 20%. While these allegations about Swiss people being racists are quite common, I'm always quite surprised. I'm half Swiss - half english but don't look Swiss at all and have nevertheless never suffered from racism. Actually the funny thing is I have in fact suffered from racism but the racist guys were NOT swiss.

Another thing to mention is that switzerland is a patchwork of 3-4 completely different "subcountries" hating each others (actually 26 cantons but you can regroup them by language...). So anyway, the german Swiss tend to be more psychorigid while latin Swiss are more wanglers...

Another thing you need to know if you want to move to this country is that the swiss government loves to charge the people with its own work. As an example, in some places they randomly pick guys living around and force them to take care of guardianship for toxico dependants or these kind of guys. It's soooooo much easyer that having the social assistants doing their work.... And of course if they pick you, then you'll just have to find about 20 houres per month on your spare time to do that.

Not to mention the army. Swiss guys under 35 must waste one month per year in the army. We don't do anything in the army, but it's an obligation. You don't even imagine the problem it creates at work when you leave for a whole month. And this causes tension with non Swiss workers because of course, as for the same wage Swiss workers work for 11 month while foreigners work for 12 there's a clear problem here....

Oh, and if you like going in the pubs with friends you can forget it. The culture of pubs here is very different. Pubs here are only for two kind of people here. Teenagers trying to show and mid 40 alcoholics.

Conclusion: While I don't think you'll have problems with racism in switzerland, it is nevertheless a shitty country. You'll have a bloody hard and boring time if you move here. I, myself, would give everything I have to move to about anywhere in the commonwealth.
