Cell phones

• Hi! I've come from the US, and am staying in Wales (Cardiff) for the next 10 months. I need to get a mobile or at least a sim card but I can't work out which operator to choose. Can anyone give me some independent advice???

  I'm a fan of Vodafone. I've been on Vodafone for about 2 years now and not had a problem with them. They seem to have the best reception coverage (I can get receoption when my friends on other networks like Orange can't). A lot depends on what network the people you call the most are on. All mobile operators charge extortionate fees to ring other networks, so if your friends use vodafone, then that's the network to go for.

  Hey. I say Go For Orange. The reason being that they offer very good start-up deals (such as 25 quid for your old phone + £25 free credit). Check out their website for deals:

• Virgin Mobile is cheap

  as well as having good calling rates, they have some good phones
  
  you might be able to get a tri-band cell, which will also work for you when you get back to the US
