what salary to request
-
Hi,
I have the option to start the Swiss office for a Dutch company. What salary ratio should I request for working in Switzerland?

All depends on the benefits
If you are relocating, your employer should be offering you support on moving, somewhere to live and maybe a supplement for moving in the first place. You should also take into other needs such as language courses. Depending on your current situation, you might also be asking for a couple of flights home a year (if you have a family the costs quickly add up).
When you take the above into account, you may or may not need that big a differential! The best thing to do is sort out what the company will and will not be paying for (the extras on the pizza, if you like) and then talk about what you should be getting. The easy way to negotiate this is that the extras would not be on your plate at home, but you will need them there.
All that said, the next thing to look at is where you are living in the Netherlands compared to where you are going in Switzerland. If you are moving from a little village near Utrecht to central Geneva or Zurich, there will be a bigger cost for housing than going from Central Amsterdam to somewhere alongside Lac Leman.
All in all, there is a higher cost of living in CH and you may need to ask for a basic salary increase of 25% to keep the same standard of living. Of course, this becomes less obvious if someone is paying your rent.
Bonne chance (if you're going the French-speaking bit)! You do know that all Swiss houses have nuclear bunkersSimon 27 Lut 2007, 01:27 - Zgłoś nadużycie
