BLOCKED PHONE

• Can anyone out there help/advise me re a phoone problem?
  A friend purchased an expensive phone from Amena and was told that it would work in the UK alright if a UK Sims card was inserted, This has not been so. A new UK sims card made no difference (although it works OK in Spain) and the phone has been given to a professional to unblock - he reports that he was able to remove the normal lock but that another lock in the phone (by Amena?) blocks ite use outside of Spain, and he saus HE cannot remove it.
  Any suggestions or explanations? Thank you.
