    Hello,

in a normal ward in Brussels: 1100 euros netto/month

in most Flemish hospitals: 1200-1300 euros netto

Off course, this is not very exact. It's just a rough estimation. You'll have no difficulty finding a job, once you have all the paperwork done. Belgium has a big lack of nurses. Unfortunately I have to tell you that a lot of Belgian nurses go to Holland, France and Luxembourg, because of better working and salary conditions. In Belgium there are almost no nursing auxiliaries, so big part of making beds and changing dipers are also included in your job.

Still Belgian hospitals provide good care, have all the equipment. And with a bit of luck you can find a nice ward with good colleagues.

A lot of nurses who want to have a better salary or are fed up with hospitals in Belgium, become an independent nurses, working at private houses, go with their car to see several patients.

I hope this an help you a little,
    welcome to Belgium

Thank's for your reply and for the information!. I didn't realize that nurses really aren't paid well at all in Belgium! Do you know anything about their unions or associations?

  • Hi

I'm sory to pop in to your conversation without an invitation. It's just that I am suprised of this low payment in Belgium. I am staying there and will be starting a course in nursing in September but I am very much disappointed about low payments in nursing. I have my Aunt who is very much paid in South Arabia so if I get my Diploma I will work for 1 year here and go to South Arabia or France depending on the salary differences.

Please come in Belgium and meet me, I am a South African who is looking for friends.

    Chaw

  • Nursing in French

    hey guys,
Sorry to jump in too, but I'm possibly moving to Belgium in a month and am a qualified nurse with 3 years experience and would love to find work, but my French is only at the beginners stage, do you know anywhere I could learn or any courses I can take or any hospitals that will help you learn while you work? I'd be really grateful for any information. Thanks

  • moving to belgium from usa

amanda working in belgium as a nurse wouldnt be such a great idea, most guyz are interested in looking for jobs in usa instead of working in belgium. once you are nurse here, there are limited avenues of advancing further in your career, the pay isnt encouraging either.....the language barrier complicates issues further... do your research before u land in belgium

Hi, I am a Belgian who lived and studied there, but soon moved to the UK. Nurses don't earn a lot in Belgium, matter of fact, who does? The taxes are very high in Belgium. Remember to save from your wages to pay your additional taxes the folowing year. It is true! The harder you work, the more your taxed. THE reason I left. UK has more opportunities, but I am also looking to go to the US in the future. It's just the registration process... If you're after money and single, go to the Arabs or Dubai for a year. Save and then decide where.
