Hispanic and or American social groups?

• Hi there,
  
  I have just been informed that my boyfriend and I might be moving to Paris within the next year or so and would very much like to meet people.
  
  I have lived in Paris before and had a miserable time because 1. I did not know the language and 2. I had no friend and or social network of any kind.
  
  I am Mexican and well it is a well known fact that we are pretty much happy social people.
  
  How do I go about meeting new people? Are there any groups to join?
  
  What about work for people who have an intermediate level of French?
