single female need to know about housing/living expenses
-
i am in the negotiation stage of my working contract - they are offering 1 month free rent plus a moving bonus - but only 10% on what i currently earn - which according to my research on housing leaves me short to even pay the rent for a year.
any advise would be highly appreciated - trying to make an educated decision about moving.......21 fév 2007, 11:24 n.haueis

rent
Rental in Dubai is very expensive, min 85k per year for a 1 bed apt, plus u will need to furnish it. you will definately need a car as the public transport isnt very good at mo. there is a metro rail in constuction but is way off completion.
you will need a good salary to come over here and you should negotiate flight and medical.

Working in Dubai compare to working in Saudia
Currently I am working in Saudia on 4500 Saudi Riyals ( Currency almost same as compare to Dhms ) Recently I got a offer in Dubai on 6000 Dhms. What do you people think when one is better? My 1500Sr differnce will compensate housing difference. What should I do? I am totally confused. Fahad

cost of living & relocating
well. dubai has more to do interms of thing to do or entertainment.also laws are more lax, but it is a muslim country, guess both are!
well it depends if ur single u cld take up sharing accomadtion & reduce cost. probably u cld save dhs 3000/-(sharing rent dubai dhs 1200 + transport/car/petrol: dhs 1200 + food expenses:dhs 500 + mobile:dhs 200).
depends also again what industry ur working in and scope of same...

not for less than 10000 AED/month
I am making considerably more than the 6000-10000/month that many of these discussions are surrounding - in Dubai rent alone will start at 66,000 per annum, food is very inexpensive, and as a single I wouldn't come here for less than 10,000 a month . . . thats only the USD equiv. of $32,608 per annum. Given the fact that there is no tax here it is the US equiv of $41,086, but that kind of money doesn't go far here . . . unless you want to room with many others in a crowded flat, consider what you are likely to earn, what you are likely to save, what you are likely to spend . . .
