  • I want to know what is the stand of Canadians on vacation time. Is it true that Canadians take only the 2 weeks of vacation per year?

  • Canada Vacation time...

    Hi Tommi,

2 weeks is the standard amount a 'New Hire' receives when starting a new job.

However, they can often negotiate at least an extra week if they have prior experience or credentials in the field they are in.

Most people who have 5-10+ years seniority with a firm can often expect vacation of 5-8 weeks per year - especially when you consider the many 'long weekends' attributed to National, Provincial and Civic holidays throughout the year.

    However:

One thing that is also true is that there was a recent story in the news, about the fact that Canadians rarely take their entire vacation allocation each year.

We are a studious and industrious breed of people, by first nature, I suppose...
