Moving to Duesseldorf
-
Hi All,
I'll be moving to Duesseldorf next month (new job), and I need to start looking for somewhere to live. My new company will sort out a temporary furnished apartment for 2-3 months, but I'll need to find something more permanent. I hear it's a good idea to begin looking as early as possible (in contrast to London, where you're turned away if you begin looking any earlier than 4-5 weeks before you intend to move in).
What are some good areas in Duesseldorf? I'm 28, so I'd like somewhere close to bars, cafes, restaurants and a park... like the Clapham area, for those of you familiar with London. I hear Pempelfort/Derendorf are about as close I'll get. Any advice? I'll be looking for a 2-3 room apartment with balcony/terrace. Thanks in advance!16 jul 2008, 03:45 neueDorfer

Hi there. I lived in Düsseldorf for 3 years - and I loved it! I strongly recommend Oberkassel. Close to the city centre and Altstadt (bar area) and it has a lot of green areas. Really close to the river (nice place for rollerblades) and also you have the outdoor pools in you backyard. /Mette
