Integrating into South Africa
-
My partner and I are considering moving to South Africa and setting up a business. I am Irish/German origin and my partner is Black British. We have followed with increasing anxiety the problems of SA particularly the high crime rate, the intolerance of people toward one another and the failure of the SA government to tackle serious issues. That said we still believe that SA has a lot to offer and we are more than prepared to make a go of it and settle in our chosen country. We have a lot to offer and are both highly qualified individuals. Do you think that we as an integrated couple would fit into SA society or are we simply headed for difficulties?

Integrating into South Africa
Corruption, murder, rape on an unprecedented scale added to intolerance, xenophobia and dicrimination against non black South Africans you would be advised to reconsider and think very carefully before settling in South Africa. Judging by the way the current government is acting it is only a matter of time before SA goes the way of Zimbabwe. A beautiful country it may be but who wants to keep looking over one's shoulder to see if some desperate person is about to rob, murder or rape you. SA is fast becoming like the rest of the continent - a basket case! You would be ell advised to look at somewhere more tolerant and less corrupt for only there will you be able to have a successful life. Good Luck!

Integrating into South Africa
Boris; If was at your place, it will be difficult for me to live in a country such as south africa. Fiable statistics show that this country is the most dangerous country of the earth; the level of muders, raps and roberies are 8 time more than the
level of rapes, murders and crimes in USA. Pleace choose another country (angola is far better).TOYTOY 17 Jul 2008, 05:37 - Report -
Integrating into South Africa
Hi Boris; the probability that your partner be raped in front of you
(as it was happen to my uncle) is very high. In addition,
the probability that you (or your partner) be guned down or savagely
robed by criminal is also very high. So, choose another country if you want to live,
because the level of savage crime in south africa is very
very very high (at least 53 muders every days, at least
1021 raps every days, at least 602 house breking by criminal every days...
etc).Agnelyly 17 Jul 2008, 05:48 - Report -
SA
SA in not worse than Ireland. I feelt safer in SA than here in Ireland where I live in the moment. If you gonna start calling SA government a failure then you are up for a problem. No government is ever called perfect by his people or anyone else. By the way irish government is 10 times loser than that of ANC there. If you follow your possitive dreams and forget about haters opinion in forum you will not regret your business there, I gurantee you. If you are going to collect information on internet you will have a lot of responses from people who will never stand their opinions in public but will feed you with crap here because you dont see them. My husband and i are french and when we went there for a while we loved Cape town and are going back to settle once we are ready with our capital. There is no doubt about that.

Please man
Crime is really not that bad, I live in Johannesburg and frequently go out at night. All you need to do is a) Stop listening to these people who are constantly hiding in there homes and never experience the reality of S.A but are quick to view their paranoid beliefs and b)just keep smart, sure their is crime and you will get mugged if you are walking around Hillbrow for instance with a laptop o flashing your iphone, but then again nobody walks around hillbrow since ages past there is nothing to do there. Now if you stay in the suburbs and frequent the city sandton it is a totally different story and quite safe there.
