• I am thinking of setting up a business in South Africa, perhaps in the tourist industry, ideally a backpackers/guest house or a coffee shop/deli. has anyone got any information to spare me??

  Sorry no real info to give you but just wondered if you were in the UK looking to relocate to SA - we are considering same as you to set up a guest house but are struggling to find how we would employ the 5 staff required to meet visa requirements in a reasonably modest guest house.

  I am returning to SA after 20 years in the UK to set up a business in Nelspruit.There are a few ways of bypassing the "employing 5 south africans" rule. If you employ a gardener and/or a maid, get them on the company paperwork without then knowing. Its not right but everyone is doing it. The best type of business module to follow is a Closed Corporation.
