What's your favourite spot in NZ?
-
I'm here for a year, and there are a lot of places on my list to see. I would like some input from travellers more experienced than I. What is your favourite spot in NZ? The aspects that I'm looking for are scenery, how approachable the people are, and various activities such as tramping, or more adrenalin rush type stuff to. Thanks for the tips.

Queenstown
I travel to NZ every year and my favourite spot is Queenstown, it is just such a spectacular town. Its the complete opposite of Queensland in Australia and I guess thats one reason why I like it and also I love coldweather and Queenstown has plenty of that.

Rail Trail
If you enjoying walking or biking, then give the Central Otago Rail Trail a go. It is 150 kms long. It was previously a railway which has had all the sleepers removed and is a nice biking / walking track. You will see some really beautiful and quite spectacular scenary. it runs through farmland and is very peaceful. The trail passes through various small towns where you can get accommodation, food etc. You can take 5 days to do it or one day - your choice. It is also free which is the best thing.

Marlborough
Try the Queen Charlotte Track, a four day hike through the fantastic Marlborough Sounds. Also in Picton, Kayaking, mountain biking, sailing and for relaxation the nearby world class Marlborough wineries.
