  • call the embassy

    I'm sure the American embassy will be able to inform you, or if you're in the US, call the Luxembourgish embassy.

  • Special application to be Luxembergan?

    The Sultanate of Sulu kingdom (Southern Philippines) were still existed. Territories were annexed to another nation "Ilegally". The present real heir to the Sultan of Sulu want to claim back his ancestor homeland and want to rule the country as his ancestor did before.

    While on his mission to claim back his kingdom by bring the matter to the ICJ and UN, His Royal Highness want to apply as the Luxembourgien nationality. As of now, HRH just holding the nationality of the nation who was annexed his ancestor homeland illegaly.

    In this HRH situation, is there is posibility for HRH to be a Luxembourgien nationality for him to succeed his claims?!

    Thanks for your concern.

  • Dual Citizenship

    Hey there -

    I don't know if I can be of much help, however, I will try. On March 8, 2007, I will take my oath to become a United States citizen. I will be a dual American-German citizen. There is no American law prohibiting dual citizenship, however, it is not encouraged (diplomatic issues, etc.). Germany changed its immigration laws around 2000. I had to get a "Beibehaltungsgehmigung" through the Germany embassy before applying for US citizenship (prior to that the Germans prohibited dual citizenship). Check with the Foreign Ministry in Luxembourg if they allow dual citizenship. I am currently residing in Virginia, but plan on relocating to Luxembourg in April (I accepted a job there). Let me know if I can be of further help.

  • Luxembourg does allow dual citizenship

    Dual Citizenship

    The Act of 23 October 2008 on the Luxembourg nationality, which came into force on January 1st, 2009, introduces the principle of dual (or multiple) citizenship.

    Who can benefit from dual citizenship?
    Persons who were Luxembourgers and had lost their citizenship because they acquired a foreign citizenship can recover their initial Luxembourg citizenship;
    Persons whose lineal ancestors were Luxembourgers on January 1st 1900 can recover their ancestors Luxembourg citizenship;
    Luxembourgers who wish to acquire a foreign citizenship without losing their Luxembourg citizenship;
    Persons holding a foreign citizenship who wish to acquire Luxembourg citizenship without losing their present foreign citizenship.
    IMPORTANT:
    Applicants should always verify with the competent authorities (embassy, consulate) of their country of citizenship whether the law of this first country also accepts the principle of dual (or multiple) citizenship.
    Applicants who would like to recover Luxembourg citizenship need to provide either proof of former Luxemburg citizenship before acquiring a foreign nationality or proof of lineal Luxembourg ancestry going back to January 1st, 1900.
    Documents accompanying the applications must be transmitted in one of the official languages (French or German) and translations need to be made by certified translator.
    Children of applicants will automatically receive Luxembourg citizenship.
    For more information on the specific conditions and the applicable procedures (the different cases mentioned above are subject to different conditions and procedures) please visit the following website: www.mj.public.lu/nationalité/... or call the info line +1.352 247- 88588
