How to get a Visa to Kuwait

  • There are several types of visas, commercial visit, tourist visit, work permit, Dependant visa and other types. You will find that almost all visit visas are article 14 (Temporary Entry) A work permit or visa is article 18.

You will probably find several postings on this blog from people who want to sell you a work permit (Article 18) which allows you to work in Kuwait, however, it would cost you a heap of money and will enable your guarantor to control your every move.

The simplest thing you can do to get a Tourist or Commercial visa to Kuwait is to contact on of the prominent 5 star hotels in Kuwait (Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton) to apply for a visa on your behalf.

They will need a photocopy of your passport, and financial guarantee (Credit Card Details) to issue the visa on your behalf. The visa would be valid for three months (During which you can only spend a maximum of one month in the country). There are a few things you need to know:

1- You CANNOT work with this type of visa.
2- If you do find a job in the country, you have to leave Kuwait and then re-enter with a new visa issued by your employer.
3- You CANNOT apply to have your stay in the country extended.
4- You WILL HAVE TO STAY at the hotel which issued your visa, and they have the right to keep possession of your passport throughout your stay (Meaning you have to have a budget of about $200 per night).

How is this visa useful? It's 100% legal. You can use it anytime to visit friends or family or come look for a job. You will not have to take the abuse of people who illegally sell work permits.

To make things even easier, you can contact the hotels in Kuwait by visiting those hotels in your own country and asking them to arrange for the reservation and visa with their branch in Kuwait. It would save you time and money and would make things easier with the hotel in Kuwait.

Do know that the authorities may refuse your application for security reasons and that some nationalities are not allowed entry to Kuwait.

Come to Kuwait, if you can find a job and you think it's where you would like to live, go for it!

P.S. I don't work for a hotel, I do not sell visas or work permits and I cannot help with the authorities. I am only providing this information for those interested. If you need more detailed information, feel free to e-mail me.
