-
hi everyone,
so glad to find this forum. Thing is i am applying for a job in kuwait, a pretty good one, so i am quite tempted to go there. I am a single professional mom in my thirties with 2 kids. I have a close male friend (american) who is currently working there and his staying there will be a big help to me and my family.
What can i expect once there? is is possible to have fun in kuwait? to make friends with other western families and live a normal life?17 Jun 2008, 06:40 Nina

welcome to kuwait
hi and welcome to Kuwait
yes!!, you can have a normal life here in Kuwait.
people here are very kind and friendly so there shouldn't be any concerns.
and there are many nice and amazing places which are good for family activities.
Kuwait is famous of shopping malls! so whenever you walk you will see a wonderful shopping mall.
and there is also cheap shopping places all over the city!
so i really think that you would have a really amazing time with your kids in there
wish you best luck!h.s 21 Jun 2008, 04:53 - Report -

hi caroline
welcome to Kuwait!
First of all, I must tell you that the weather will be very hot and humid in August so don't be surprised by that! it will get better from the beginning of Nov. or so...I know it's a long time but yeah, kuwait's weather is bad. But who cares since Air COnditioning is all over the places..cars, houses, malls, at work. so don't worry
I think making friends is not that difficult..you'll find many Kuwaiti girs and boys who speaks English very well. I prefer you keep with the girls only though
There are many people from different countries, so it's not that hard to find a friend.
I can be of help if you want to ask about anything in Kuwait...if you want you can add me [email removed]

R U CRAZY
Dont expect anything. go with an open mind.....very open. Dont believe all that crap about kuwaitis welcoming you and all that jazz. They are rude and unfriendly. Keep you distance. Some can speak a few words in english. I was there for a brief period and got the hell out. Why dont you go and visit before commiting to the offer.

About Kuwait
You can have a good life here keeping in mind that this is just a period of time you will spend here to save enough money to have a better life back home.
I've been living in Kuwait for about a year here. I did not like it in the beginning but I can say that I really like it now, life is simple and once you get used to the rythem of life things get better.
You mentioned that you have a good male friend here, I don't think that it's legal to live with him though, if you guys are not married. One of the things we were asked before we rented out our home was the marriage certificate. The heat is exterem during the summer, but most people take their yearly vacation during that time. There are beach clubs for the kids to enjoy swimming and other activities. There are a lot of expats living in Kuwait, and u can make a lot of friendships that ways.
Good luck, I hope u enjoy ur time here, I am.Expat mom 08 Aug 2008, 03:58 - Report -
Kuwait Feb 2009.
Hi there, my name is Sonia. I am from Australia and my partner and I are planning on moving to Kuwait in Feb 2009. We have a 9yr old who will need to attend a good school - will she be safe in over there?
I would like to work part-time also - any ideas?
Is it expensive to live in Q8? We would like to return with a few $.
As we will need to rent, is it true we need a marraige certificate. Does my Daughter's surname need to be the same as my partner's?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
