Why is it so hard to make friends in Greece?

• Hi!
  I have been living for 4 months now in Greece - and all my friends are foreigners!!! Why is it so hard to make Greece friends? Sometimes I get the impression that they prefer to stay amongst themselves. This is not really what I expected when I came here.

• We should not generlize but...

  Hi! I have been following the conversation which I find very interesting! I am Greek myself but I live outside of Greece. First of all I would like to say that we can not generilize for no country. There are much more people with whom we don´t have personal experience than with those we do!
  Apart from that let me say that for me also has been dificult to make new greek friends. I had a couple of friends from school but for a decade later I can not say that it was very easy making new friends, partly because of me, partly because the circumstances are really dificult. Greeks have the fame of great hospitality and in some parts are excactly like that but in AThens for example it can be the opposite, everyone is going to do his job and does not care about the rest! (as in any big city no?). Finally I want to say that the person I have been feeling more comfortable in my life is not Greek and that is why I left my country and in general I feel more comfortable abroad! But I can not talk in general about the Greeks only from my experience!

  i must say i moved here to hsve a good time work and make new friends i find the greeks have no manners look down upon people think alot of theirselfs and ave no respect when i came here i was promised alot instead im on 600 euro pcm and get spoken to like crap i do all the work dont get any breaks so if your thinking of moving here expect to have an idiot of a boss or a pervert of a boss NEVER TRUST A GREEK BEARING GIFTS

• Read this before you make the decision to come to Greece.

  I am Greek, and i am telling you that Greece is the worse country in the western world. By far!
  Greeks are rude, selfish and as other people said, motivated only by their own profit (money or not).
  
  Personally i am seriously thinking to move to Netherlands or Sweden.
  
  Take my word for it, do not come in Greece because it is very possible that you will regret it. Sure we have nice cuisine and beautiful places to see (islands, etc), and that's exactly why you should come only as tourists.
  If you make the mistake to come for permanent stay in Greece, don't say that you haven't been warned.
