Bavarian International School (BIS)
Inspiring global citizens and future changemakers
The Bavarian International School (BIS) is more than just a school. It is the place where students from three to 19 years of age are prepared for the new world of tomorrow. This is where young personalities, global citizens and changemakers grow and flourish.
Across both BIS campuses, in Munich-Schwabing (Kindergarten & Primary School) and Haimhausen (from Kindergarten to Graduation), education for around 1,250 students from 70 nations takes place under the philosophy "Believe. Inspire. Succeed." Approx. 180 top teachers from all over the world act as mentors, inspiring students and imparting values and future skills along with academic knowledge.
BIS offers unique learning conditions with state-of-the-art technological equipment and holistic education far beyond the curriculum. Around 80 After School Activities per week are complemented by special programmes such as European Eco-School, Model United Nations (MUN) or The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. At the BIS City Campus on Leopoldstrasse, After School Care is available until 5 or 6 p.m.
Academic excellence
BIS is a private, non-profit, all-day school (Kindergarten, Preschool, Primary School, and Secondary School) and is considered to be one of the best international schools in Germany and Europe. The average grades in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB DP) are more than four points above the global average every year. A degree from BIS opens the door to the best universities all over the world.
The school is characterized by two other special qualities: BIS is the only IB World School in Germany offering all four IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP). And as the only international school in this country, the school offers a scholarship programme with three scholarships.
