Health Insurance From the UK
-
I have just graduated from university and I am going to move to Germany. I want to spend at least half a year in an intensive Language school learning German before I look for a job. I already have accommodation sorted and will register with the authorities when I arrive. I have an EHIC card which covers basic health cover for short time only, not if I reside there.
I don’t understand what I need to do about my health insurance? Exchange this card for a substitute health agreement with the Ersatzkasse or AOK? Do I need to take my own health insurance when I arrive or before I go? Perhaps annual travel insurance? Obviously costing a substantial amount, or am I covered free by theEuropean Health Agreement Germany has with the UK?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
