Why Morzine?
Morzine has first-class facilities, but the place retains an old-school charm of an earlier period; pretty buildings and a less commercial feel than many other places.
The range of available accommodation and activities for kids makes this a great place for families and group holidays.
What about the skiing?
In the immediate vicinity, the great range of pistes is perfect for families and there is something for everyone.
The location in a gorge and presence of trees also give the resort good availability in bad weather conditions which make other resorts un-skiable.
If you are only looking for the truly hair-raising black runs, this is not the best choice as the choice and variety across red and below is where this resort is strongest. However, Morzine is situated in the Portes du Soleil , which means if you are feeling energetic you can ski over into Switzerland and the runs in Les Crosets, which is an experience!
Other things to do?
There is a great sports centre (Parc des Dérêches ) open in winter with a spa (sauna and hamman), ice-skating and swimming pools (full size and for kids). There are lots of activities such as a climbing wall and dance classes, in addition to gym and fitness facilities.
Where to stay?
There is a wide variety of different types and levels of accommodation available. Chalet availability is high as the resort has developed across what is effectively the lower levels of a wide mountain gorge. This makes it a great place to go with several families or larger groups as you can be independent, but close enough to get together.
Some companies, such as Snow Candy, offer an integrated experience where they can take care of everything: from their beautiful chalets, to the catering, airport transfers, ski hire, lessons and more. Check out their luxury catered chalets in Morzine .
