Racism in China

Is there racism in China in any pure form? Although there is problably some kind of racism in any country, usually this is nothing special (although never good!). All I could really find on the topic were some online articles

Not Racism as we define it.
If any you should consider replacing the word racism with discrimination.
Racism is a more western centric viewpoint we are only familiar with ourselves.
China's discrimination if any would run along the lines of socio-economic status.Eman 23 Jul 2008, 10:26 - Report -

Racism or Discrimination?
I believe that racism does partly exist in China at the present. However, the racism is more likely to be a prejudice, like cultural discrimination and regional one. Anyway, the modern chinese people or government never did racial crime against foreigner.

Racism in China
There is a lot of racism in China.Towards foreigners for different reasons. One major reason is that they associate black with poverty and stupidity, lazyness and violence. That is what they see from the movies so they believe it is true that blacks in general, regardless where they are from portray these things.Secondly, they are even racist towards their own people, for example people from Xinjiang, they think in general they are thieves and just want to steal from everyone. They hate the Tibetans, for their religion and recent rebellions.Yet,they do not want Tibet to become and independent country. This is very sad about China, but it is true and I am happy to share my experience with you because I think when people start to discuss matters it is a step foward. In China there are 56 ethnic groups,so they see themselves as different from each other, while they should be focusing more on the things they have in common.
I can send you more info on China if you like, because I have been here for a long time.Idealist 14 Mar 2009, 05:15 - Report
