what are my options?

• my boyfriend has been in canada for ... he came to canada on a visitors visa and is now 2 mths expired. we are looking to get married and spend our lives together but due to me living in another town we have had to live apart for quite some time. I am looking at relocating to the area where i will live with him but that will still be a few mths. Also it takes another year to achieve common law status. Because he does not have a work permit he is not able to work. He has been offered a job and given a invitation letter to work for the company. He is wanting to apply to get perminent status with a work permit so he can work ... but i guess you could say that we are not familiar with how to go about this. please help and let me know what i should do ....final goal !! hinm being able to work full time and have his permanent visa
