What are the proposals of the Liberals vs. NDP vs. Bloc vs. Conservatives - on health Care?
Everybody promisses to reduce wait times.. What is the difference?
Should we expect a change in policies with a change in government? In which direction?06 Dec 2005, 04:37 Anonymous

Stephen Harper wants to privatize healthcare
Stephen Harper wants to privatize healthcare. If you want a system that does not work for the average citizen (like the one in the USA) vote for him

Although not advocating Mr. Harper's policies nor a privatized healthcare system, there are some notable advantages to a privatized, or even semi-privatized healthcare system.
The comparative evidence is that the Canadian health care model is inferior to those that are in place in other countries of the OECD. It produces inferior age-adjusted access to physicians and technology, produces longer waiting times, is less successful in preventing deaths from preventable
causes, and costs more than any of the other systems that have comparable objectives. The models that produce superior results and cost less than Canada’s monopoly-insurer, monopoly-provider system have: user fees; alternative, comprehensive, private insurance; and private hospitals that compete for patient demand. The overwhelming evidence is that, in comparative terms, Canada’s system of health care delivery under-performs and needs to emulate the more
successful models available elsewhere in those countries that offer their citizens universal access to health care.Anonymous 05 Jan 2006, 11:24 - Report -
private vs. non-private health care
Quite honestly I do not care if it is private or public as long as it is good and I can have a guarantee that when I need HEALTH care, I will get it. The whole concept of a waiting list is absurd, there should be none!
Now, what I think is that the government should stop forbiding private health care. At the end it should be up to the citizens to decide, not to the governmentAnonymous 06 Jan 2006, 12:03 - Report -
