I'm an immigration lawyer from the US and have lived abroad most of my adult life.

I have news for everyone on this website - this story is repeated, exactly the same, in every country in the world where living is good.

yes, even in the "land of the free" US - people go through 50 kinds of hell to move there - even educated people.

To the person who was so bitter about having a college degree and that not being sufficient?

Please, get over yourself. Europeans do not consider a US undergraduate to be equivalent to a European degree. You must have a Master's to be considered a college graduate.

I can't stand it when people in the US complain about how hard it is to find a job and get legal, wah, wah, wah in other countries. Maybe now you know how we feel in the Sun Belt when Yankees come down and take our jobs - and are already citizens.

The entire US is not wealthy and a significant portion of the US lives under the poverty line. Get over yourselves, coastal, big city people.

Life as an immigrant is tough. Period. No matter what credentials or background you have.
