How do women REALLY get treated in Dubai?

  • I'm looking to come to Dubai and work. I'm a Project Manager for a construction consultancy... I'm interested in how women get treated in the working world as well as socially. I'm British and 30 yrs old.

Any insight greatly appreciated! From men and women..

women are the juice of dubai. they get f***ed left, right and centre by arabs. they are the centre of attraction in dubai.

  • the man is obsolete

The post by 'Das' was obviously put there to put women off going to Arab countries. I can understand his concern. The jobs market is becoming more and more competetive. It makes sense to use bullying to stop competent, literate, qualified, professionals from applying for the same jobs as you, when you are lonely, misogynist, who's first experience was with a close relative.

  • Inappropriate

I feel it was inappropriate of Das to have posted such a comment in a forum. Rest assured Dubai is a very safe place to visit or stay.
The work environment is generally like any other place as it is mostly expats who work in private sector companies/multinationals.

I work as Finance Manager with a large group and have a very congenial work environment. I like to show new expats around UAE during the weekends. This gives me an opportunity to make friends from different countries and get to know different cultures. I moved to Dubai in 2003 and find it an amazing place to live. I would be happy to help you with whatever I can. You may contact me on [email removed] Cheers!

  • no worries...

as long as you are qualified and perform, you should be fine job wise. socially you will get plenty attention. in terms of safety, nothing to worry. dubai is one of the safest places in the world. punishments are strict/severe and women are reverred (let's not get into prostitution and the perception right now)

  • 3 Mexican women visiting

We are three business women from the U.S. that are planning to visit Dubai in early May 2009 for my friends birthday. We are only there for 4-5 nights and want to know where to go and is it safe? How does one dress? We want to make sure we respect the culture. I'm searching as much as possible on the internet, but surely welcome all info. Thank You!
