when to buy a cellphone - christmas or after

My phone is in good shape but I would like to get a refreshed one. I am wondering what is better, to buy it using the x-mas "offers" or wait some time next year?

Cell phone carriers usually renew their inventory after christmas. So now you should be able to get a good deal with Verizon, Cingular, etc.
